Why?
1 in 8 men get prostate cancer. Together, we're supporting our dads, brothers, partners and friends by raising awareness, funding lifechanging research, campaigning for change and providing much needed support.
After loosing MIOG Member Colin Burgess in June 2024 to a short but aggressive fight with Prostate Cancer, we've turned our attention to fundraising for a cause that has suddenly for all the wrong reasons been a cause close to our hearts. We're arranging multiple events over the next 13th months running up to our Exhibition on the 24th/25th October 2025 - This was one of Colin's many passions together (Model Railways & the real railways) We hope to raise a pot of cash which hopefully will mean that other peoples loved ones and families wont have to experience the traumatic journey that we had to endure with Colin. He was a well loved Dad, Husband and man of his family, so help us do him proud and even if you pledge just £5 we'd greatly appreciate it. We've set ourselves an ambitious target of £20,000 but even if we raise just half of that it would be an amazing achievement. To donate to our cause please donate via our Just Giving page - Or by turning up to our event.

Layouts

Barnes Green TMD
A TMD in the main years of BR’s sectorisation era, based in the south of England. Having recently undergone a full refurbishment, this layout is now back on the exhibition circuit and features the best of southern region diesel and electric locomotives.
Era: Late 80s-Early 1990s Theme: TMD Power: DC
Elm Engineering
An outpost of the British Rail research department, ELM engineering showcases a wide variety of kit and scratch built rolling stock during BR’s sectorisation era
Era: 1986-1993 Theme: RTC research / military / wagon repair Power: DCC
Hardwick Bridge
The North West of England was famous for its loco hauled service trains in the 1990s, and these are recreated on Hardwick Bridge. Appearing for the first time on the exhibition circuit this year, the layout combines a busy terminus with an urban freight yard, similar to those seen in Preston and Blackburn, and a variety of traction to suit both levels of layout.
Era: 1995 - 1998 Theme: North West Terminus and freight yard Power: DCC with sound
Johannesdorf
Modelled to Oe scale and representing a 760mm gauge, Johannesdorf recreates the once common site of an Austrian Narrow gauge railway, serving a tourist resort at the end of a valley in the 1970s. Occasional steam services still run but modernisation has taken its hold on the fleet. Previously featured in Railway Modeller magazine.
Era: 1970s Austrian Narrow gauge Power: DCC with sound
Knype Bridge Parcels Depot
Located to the side of Knype Bridge station, Knype Bridge parcels depot sees a constant level of traffic powered by BR Blue diesels, whilst a regular passenger service and occasional engineers traffic makes an appearance too.
Era: Late 70s early 1980s Theme: Parcels Depot Power: DCC with sound
Loch Dubh
Recreating the halcyon years of BR blue in the Scottish Highlands, Loch Dubh is a terminus ‘north of the border’ with a steady stream of Sulzer type 2s serving both the passenger station and whisky distillery. Other classic Scottish loco types may well make an appearance too!
Era: Early to late 1970s Theme: Scottish highland terminus Power: DCC with sound
Napier Road
Napier Road is a fictious layout set in the early 1960s in the North Eastern Region of British Railways. With the demise of steam, new diesel locos were appearing on the nation's railways. This makes the layout quite distinctive, as we run only 'green diesel era' locos.
Era: 1960s green diesels Theme: Diesel depot Power: DCC with sound
Win Street Engineers Sidings
A former station on the edge of the privatisation era, Winn Street features a variety of engineers and departmental rolling stock as seen across Britain's railway network throughout the 1990s.
Era: 1990s sectorisation into privatisation Theme: Engineers Sidings, ex station Power: DCC with sound
